Josh Blumer, an old and well known resident of Ashton Twp. passed to the great beyond last Friday morning June 12, 1908, at 8 o'clock. He was born March 6, 1832, and had passed the 76 mile stone in lifes uneven journey. He was a native of Switzerland and was married in 1855. In 1865 he came to America and settled at Davenport, Ia., and in 1875 he came to Sherman county, Nebraska, where he has since made his home. Thirteen children were born to them, ten of which survive him as follows: Mrs. Willam Knutzen, Mrs. O. L. Mercer, Mrs. Theo. Wrahe, Samuel and Oswald of Ashton, and Mrs. Emil and Mrs. William Schaumberg, and Fritz, Joseph and John, living in Oklahoma. He also leaves behind 38 grand children and 4 great grand children. He was stricken with paralysis on June 4, and the second shock came the morning of the 12, carrying him away. He was laid to rest in Ashton cemetery, June 16.
