Mrs. Carolyn Stowe Brooks, 49, of Pittsboro, formerly of Charlotte, died Jan. 6, 1991, at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill after a long illness. Funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Griffin Funeral Home, Pittsboro. Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
A teacher at Pittsboro Primary School, Mrs. Brooks was born in Charlotte and had attended Myers Park High School.
Survivors are her husband, Gene of Pittsboro; sons, Michael Brooks, Will Brooks, both of Pittsboro; daughter, Angela Brooks of Pittsboro; father, Lester Stowe; mother and stepfather, Harriet and Gene Payne, who is a Charlotte Observer editorial cartoonist; brother, Lester Stowe III; sister, Mrs. Sharon Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pittsboro United Methodist Church choir, Pittsboro, N.C. 27312; or to the charity of the donor`s choice.
