Local Serviceman Killed in Vietnam

     Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Ted Newcity, 19, of Corpus Christi, was killed June 3 by enemy
gunfire in Vietnam, relatives reported today. Newcity, who enlisted in the
Marines here last September, was killed near Quant Tin, Vietnam. He had been in
the combat area since Easter.

Newcity, who resided here from 1958 until he entered the service, attended Miller and Carroll High Schools.. He was the son of Mrs. Ann Newcity, who recently moved from here to Houston.

Newcity previously sustained a combat would in May and was hospitalized for a short time.

He was the 37th Nueces County casualty of the war and 108th South Texas to lose his life in the Vietnam fighting.

Other survivors include a sister, Miss Susan Newcity, also of Houston, and a brother, Eddie Hoffman of Victoria. Niday Funeral Home of Houston will announce arrangements.
