Ruthie Hickman
Services for Ruthie Hickman, 99, of Tyler, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, in the chapel of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with Bro. Lloyd McCaskill officiating. Burial will be at Flint Cemetery.

Mrs. Hickman went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, in Tyler. She was born March 20, 1910, in Flint to the late Tate and Vinnie Thedford. She lived in Tyler the past 57 years, was a housewife and homemaker and was a member of Willow Brook Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Hickman, in 1963, and by two sons, Cecil and Arthur Hickman.

Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Bettie Hickman; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mamie and Mack Laney and Pauline and Bud Peters; a brother, Travis Thedford, all of Tyler; 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Jimmy Hickman, Buddy Peters, Butch Peters, Toby Laney, Blake Peters and Tony Laney. Honorary pallbearers are Kerry Hickman, Art Hickman, Eddie Hickman, Landie Steel and Melvin Steel Jr.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to the Azalea Place Bingo Fund, 810 S. Porter Ave., Tyler, 75701; or to Heart to Heart Hospice, 1402 Rice Road, Suite 100, Tyler, 75701.
