Bob was a member of the United Methodist Church in Heron Lake. He was a past member of the United Methodist Church in Okabena serving in many capacities, including Sunday School Superintendent for many years. When the church closed, he was instrumental in getting the church building moved to Pioneer Village in Worthington. He was also a 51 year member of the Sievert-Peterson American Legion Post #608 of Okabena where he held many offices including commander and adjutant. He also held offices on the district level. He was also an original member of the Okabena German Band, playing for 50 years and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Lakefield and later in Windom.
Bob passed away on Thursday evening April 1, 2004 at the Lakeview Nursing Home in Heron Lake. He was 73 years and 9 days old.
Bob is survived by his wife Mary Hotzler of Okabena, two sons Steven Hotzler of Okabena and Tom and his wife Dawn Hotzler of Lakefield, a daughter Susan and her husband Philip Kirk of Jackson, six grandchildren Wesley and Rebecca Hotzler, Mary and Amelia Reimers, Joseph and Robert Washington; a great grandson Austin Hotzler and two brothers Harold Hotzler of Okabena and Warren and his wife Elaine Hotzler of Okabena.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Ralph.
