Sarah Luella Tullis was born July 19, 1852 and died December 17, 1916, aged 64 years, 4 months and 28 days.
She was married to Oscar S. Barnes at Denmark, Iowa, Nov. 12, 1872. To this union five sons were born, four of whom are living; Dudley T. of Cantril, Charles Sumner of Mt. Pleasant, Lisle E. of Donnellson, Earl O. at home. Albert E. died Sept. 21, 1897.
In 1893 she united with the M. E. church at Home Prairie, near Cantril, Iowa. Since living at her recent home she has attended the M. E. church at Clay Grove.
Being of a kind and loving nature she was a devoted wife and mother and a good neighbor.
Besides the husband and four sons she leaves to mourn her demise two brothers, C. W. Tullis of Kansas and Albert Tullis of Peoria, Illinois, one sister, Mrs. Arthur McCabe of Luray, Missouri, ten grandchildren, four daughters-in-law, and as she numbered her friends by her acquaintances, she leaves an entire community to sympathize and mourn with the relatives.
Her life was gentle, but like the still waters it was deep. In her heart of hearts she carried those she loved, and her hand was never weary, her step never failed in ministering unto, caring for, waiting upon those who were in any way dependent upon her.
There's a silence that no one can hear,
A vacancy no one can see;
A mother so kind and so true,
Has been called Home to God, called by you.
