Clara L. Breed (1886-1974) was the third child and second daughter of Caleb (1843-1897) and Harriet (Ball) Abell (1855-1941), and she was born in November, 1883 in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. In 1900, she was sixteen years old, single, living with her parents and going to school. By 1910, Clara was twenty four, living at home at 21 State Street in Towanda and working as a bookkeeper in an office supply store. She evidently never married. Still living at home in 1920, twenty-seven-year-old Clara was employed as a stenographer. By the time of the 1930 census, her work had taken her to Washington, D. C. where she was working as a stenographer in a bank. Still in Washington in 1940, she was similarly employed. She died sometime in 1974 and is buried with the rest of her family in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Towanda, Pennsylvania.
