Mexer C. Fant.

On Friday morning at 6:00 a.m., September 14th, 1928, the death angel visited the home of Ben Fant and took from their midst a beloved and devoted wife and mother. She was a resident of the suburb of Lanett, Ala., having moved there about one year ago. She formerly lived near LaFayette, Ala. She was a Christian mother and was very much devoted to her home and children. She had made a hard fight to help raise her children, who so dearly loved her and were always ready to respond to her every need. She was 53 years of age, was borned and raised near Wadley, Ala. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Champion.
Surviving her were her husband, Ben Fant, nine children and five grandchildren. The children were E. L. and J. E. Fant, of LaFayette, Ala., Mrs. Lena Duffey, of Shawmut, Ala.; Fermon Fant, of LaGrange, Ga.; Lee, M. J. and Joe Fant was with her and also two girls, Cenus and Doris Fant. She was laid to rest in the Shawmut Cemetery. Rev. Bob Crowder and Rev. Nelson, officiating. The pall bearers were her six boys, E. L., Jose, Fermon, Lee, M.J. and Joe Fant.
Johnson & Co., of Langdale, Ala, were the undertakers in charge.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church at Shawmut Saturday, Sept. 15, 1928.
