Nioma M. Joliet passed away Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009.
Service: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Westwind Disciples of Christ Church, 1300 Sarah Brooks Drive, Keller, Jerry Kirkpatrick officiating. Interment: Bourland Cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lucas Funeral Home, 137 East Hill St. in Keller.
Nioma and Harold met and married at the Keller Senior Citizen Center, Nioma being 73 and Harold 70 years young at that time. She was born in Pennsylvania to a large family of farmers and coal miners. The Pennsylvania Dutch dialect was her native language and spoken whenever the family gathered. She was very proud of her Pennsylvania Dutch heritage.
Nioma was a homemaker and member of Westwind Disciples of Christ Church. She was initiated into Eastern Star in 1959 and a member of Bound Brook Chapter 95. She enjoyed all types of arts and crafts, ceramics and painting. She had a wonderful sense of humor, was very generous and had a kind heart. She always had time for grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed playing games with them all.
She will be missed!
She was preceded by brothers, Marlin Snyder, John Snyder and William Snyder; sister, Sarah Alice Weinreich; her first husband, Howard Malick.
Survivors: Loving husband, Harold Joliet of Keller; son, Robert Malick and wife, Mary of Lakeview, Ark.; daughter, Constance Sullivan and husband, Ken, of Keller; grandchildren, Timothy Sullivan (Sara), Lynette Wilson (Matthew), Gaylene Scales (Mark), Douglas Malick (Angela), Galen Malick and Teresa Hawbaker (Jeff); 12 great-grandchildren; numerous friends and extended family.
