WASHINGTON - Albert Miller, 73, retired farmer, died at 3:30 a.m. Sunday at the residence here. He had been ill for a long time due to stomach trouble. He was the son of John and Annie Miller and was born on a farm northwest of here Dec. 15, 1858.
Mr. Miller received his education in this community. Fifty years ago on Jan 13, he married Miss Mary Harms of Benson and the couple began farming northeast of Washington. Twelve years ago he retired and they moved to the present home on East Jefferson Street. They were parents of nine children, eight of whom survive, with the widow: Mrs. Maggie Theobald, East Peoria; Mrs. Anna Ufheil and Mrs. Mabel Sommer, Peoria; Mrs. Lena Fakes, Benson; Elmer Miller, at home; Mrs. Katherine Rider, Washington; Eilert, Annawan; William at home. There are 27 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Minnie Harms, lives at Low Point and a brother, Conrad Miller lives at Edelstein.
Mr. Miller was a member of St. John's German Lutheran Church. The funeral will be held at the home at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and at 2 o'clock at St. Mark's Luthern church. The Rev. L. J. Powell will officiate and burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.
