James Henry Doiron
James "Jimmy" Henry Doiron Sr., 87, a native and resident of Houma, died at 2:35 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, 2006.
Visitation was at Chauvin Funeral Home and at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Mass was at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
He is survived by six sons, James Doiron Jr. and wife, Wendy Thibodeaux, Thomas Doiron, Daniel Doiron and wife, Trudy Samanie, Kermit Doiron and wife, Kathy Portier Doiron, Byron Doiron and wife, Mary Pertuit Katz of Houma and William Doiron of Corpus Christi, Texas; four daughters, Jennifer Doiron of New Orleans, Frances Doiron Lutgring and husband, Ed. Jr., of New Iberia, Natalie Doiron Lalande and husband, Perry, of Lake Charles and Jill Doiron Bonvillain and husband, Randy, of Houma; one sister, Margaret Doiron Larke; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gloria and Lewis Miller of Chalmette; 15 grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette Detiveaux Doiron; his parents, Clay Ellis Doiron and Frances Fabregas Doiron and Aunt Rosa Fabregas; one son, Jude Doiron; two brothers, Clayton Doiron and Frank Doiron; and four sisters, Mae Frances Doiron Babin, Dorothy Doiron Scurto, Juanita Doiron Landry and Rhea Doiron Boudreaux.
He was retired and owner of Fabregas Music Store and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a Tech Sergeant in the 30th Infantry Division Band.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, past member of Houma Terrebonne Community Band and Stage Band and bandleader of Jimmy and the Melody Weavers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Vandebilt Catholic High School.
Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
