Vernon E. Burr, 86, of Lone Tree died Monday, Dec. 24 at Mercy Hospital.

Services were held Thursday, Dec. 27, at the United Presbyterian Church in Lone Tree, with Rev. Denley Ganfield officiating. Burial was in the Lone Tree Cemetery.

He was born Nov. 27, 1893, in Johnson County, to John and Anna Stock Burr. He married Hilda Nelson Sept. 18, 1919. A farmer in the Lone Tree area, he was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, a member of the board of directors of the former Reformed Church and member of the board of directors at the former Lone Tree Savings Bank.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Keith (Ruth) Forbes of Iowa City; one son, Dale Burr of Lone Tree; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Willis (Alice) Musser and Mrs. R. J. (Pearle) Miller, both of Iowa City; and one brother, Lloyd Burr of Lone Tree. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Marvin; one sister, Emma Kile; and one brother, George Burke (Burr).

Pallbearers were Paul Forbes, Kevin Forbes, John Burr, Gary Schmitt, Robert Berry, and Robert Cowell.
