Obituary from unknown newspaper: "Died, of peritonitis, at the home of her parents, Sept. 14, 1894, after an illness of one week, Jennie V., youngest daughter of Albert Augustine and wife. The funeral was conducted by Rev. J.D. Guthrie, of Oskaloosa, assisted by W.J. Speers, of Davenport. Services were held at the family residence and the remains were laid to rest in the Wymore cemetery. Jennie V. Augustine was born April 11, 1870, and was aged 24 years, 5 months, and 3 days. She was a graduate of Penn college and had taught nine terms of school, five in one district, which was sufficient evidence of her qualifications and worth. She was one of the most kind-hearted and affectionate girls we ever knew; never known to give a cross or unkind word to any person at home or abroad, always ready and willing to make the best of everything, and during her sickness which was but one week but of the most severe character, she was never heard to murmur or complain. Jennie will be missed by the many children who had been under her care in school, as well as by all the neighbors; and especially at the old home where there is a vacant chair that can never be filled. Jennie was the youngest of a large family of children, of whom four brothers and two sisters, with the aged parents, are left to mourn the loss of one so dear. The family have the sympathy of the entire community in their time of sorrow and bereavement. Jennie is gone to the home of the blest where all the faithful are at rest."
