Loretta Mary Anderkin Smith, 73, of Mt. Vernon passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. She was a Madison County native born September 22, 1947 daughter of the late Preston and Pearl Martin Anderkin. Loretta was a woman of faith, lived her life as a homemaker, raising her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family, watching UK Basketball, being a member of the Big Blue Nation, taking care of animals and getting a hard day’s work completed.
Loretta is survived by four children, Tim Anderkin, Joshua Smith, Jason Smith (Maggie), Cassandra Smith; siblings Frankie Anderkin (Arlene), Patty Roy (Eddie), Wanda Prater (Bill), Frances Cuzick, Peggy Mason (Bobbie); grandchildren Robin Madden (William), Logan Smith, Samuel Smith, Grayson Smith, Devona Smith, Jaylen Smith, Sierra Smith, Sidney Smith, Haley Lamb; great grandchildren, Felicity Fields, William Madden, Michael Madden, Sandrea Madden; great-great grandchild Alessandra Fields.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Keith Smith; two daughters Crystal Smith, Famey Hellard; daughter-in-law Patty Smith; sisters Gladys Gill, Dorothy Olskyskv; and step-mother Gertrude Powell Anderkin.
Funeral Service 2:00 PM Wednesday at Reppert Funeral Home with Pastor Kenneth Felty officiating. Burial will follow in Scaffold Cane Cemetery in Rockcastle County. A walk through visitation will be from 12:30 PM until service time. Pallbearers will be Tim Anderkin, Joshua Smith, Jason Smith, Frankie Anderkin, William Madden and Michael Madden.
