James C. Righthouse, 60; Vietnam War Army veteran
Funeral services for James C. Righthouse, 60, of Memphis, will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at the Underwood Baptist Church, Underwood, with burial in New Bethel Cemetery, Chelsea.
He died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at his residence losing his battle to cancer. He was born Nov. 5, 1948, to the late Ed and Fern Colvin Righthouse.
He was a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War serving from 1968 to 1970 in the 6th Battalion 14th Heavy Field Artillery. He retired after 36 as a journeyman maintenance man from G.E. Appliance Park.
He was a 1967 graduate of New Washington High School and earned an associates degree from Indiana University Southeast. He was a member of the Underwood Baptist Church and the Scott County Riding Club.
The family would like to thank all of our brothers and sisters in SCRC and actual brothers and sisters and loving friends and neighbors for all of their help and support during this illness. A special thank you to the James Graham Brown Cancer Center who became like family; Doctors Eichenberger, Kloecker and Silverman and their staff who went above and beyond in their kindness and support. Survivors include his wife of 19 years, the former Linda Whitlow; children, Shannon Gaddis and husband, Kevin, and Troy and Clinton Righthouse, all of Scottsburg; stepson, Jason Caudill and wife, Samantha, of Stuttgard, Germany; grandchildren, Kyle and Kelsey Gaddis and Kodi Righthouse; sisters (he was the oldest of nine children), Regina Righthouse, Diana Walton, Bonita McWilliams and husband, James, and Yvonne Carol Righthouse; brothers, Larry, Dennis, Steven and Tony Righthouse; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be at Collins Funeral Home, Scottsburg, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, and at the church after 10 a.m. Friday.
