Ethel Burzella Kelsoe was born July 1, 1899, in a half dug-out near Cloud Chief on the Washita River to Henry Thomas and Donna Stewart Kelsoe, with outlaws and Indians passing along trails a few hundred feet from their front door. The family home was burned by outlaws one day while the family was in Cloud Chief.
Her dad bought his farm home in 1907 near the old Lake Valley School, one mile east and 1/2 mile south. From here Ethel attended the Bethel School. She was a member of the Sharon Baptist Church were her dad was a deacon.
Ethel married Earl Adams March 10, 1918 in the home of her parents.
