Age 72 years, 5 months, 20 days. Buried May 10, 1923. Retired builder. He was the son of Avery C. Beall and Sarah A. Stone Beall. On October 16, 1888 as Avery Benson Beall, he married Martha Francis Cameron at the District of Columbia. In March 1907 he was granted a decree of absolute divorce from Martha Frances Beall in the District of Columbia. They lived together until July 3, 1899 and had one adopted daughter, Martha Victoria Beall.. The obituary of Martha F. Beall published in The Washington Post in 1944 stated, "...widow of Avery B. Beall." She is found on the 1930 Census with her three grandsons as her daughter died in 1924 and her daughter's husband died in 1918.

Avery Benson Beall, 72, Former Builder, Dead
Avery Benson Beall, well known among the older citizens of Washington, for many years a successful building contractor in the District of Columbia, who retired from active life some twenty years ago, died Tuesday at the home of his niece, Mrs. Carrie A. Wagner, 118 5th Street Northeast, aged seventy-two years. The funeral will be held from Mrs. Wagner’s residence this afternoon. The interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Georgetown, and will be private.

Mr. Beall was a native of Washington and lived here all of his life. He was the son of the late Avery C. Beall and Sarah Beall. Mr. Beall in his younger days had been an active member of the Union Carpenters’ organization and a member of the Sons of the Revolution. He was a communicant of the Church of the Nativity. The Rev. Enoch Thompson, rector, will conduct the funeral services.
