NAUGATUCK — Mr. Jeremiah F. Clifford, age 84, of Beacon Manor Road, Naugatuck, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at Griffin Hospital. He was the husband of Lorraine F. (Sharkey) Clifford.

Mr. Clifford was born in Ansonia on July 16, 1925, a son of the late Daniel and Bridget (Kiley) Clifford. He was a former resident of Ansonia and Seymour and lived in Naugatuck for the past ten years. He worked at Farrell Manufacturing Corporation for many years and retired after 29 years of service from B.F. Goodrich.

He was a lifelong New York Giant, Boston Red Sox and Notre Dame Football fan. His hobbies included playing pool and playing on a bowling league at Valley Bowl. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a communicant of St. Mary Church.

Besides his wife, he leaves his two sons, Deacon Thomas J. Clifford and wife, Linda, of Naugatuck, Gary M. Clifford and wife, Diana, of Oxford; his daughter, Lisa M. Stumpo and husband, David, of Naugatuck; his nine beloved grandchildren, Christopher, Michelle, Heather, Michael, Jason, Nicole, Chelsea and Rachel; his two beloved great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Alex; and his several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two beloved grandchildren, Thomas and Theresa Clifford; and five brothers, Thomas, Daniel, John, James and William Clifford.

His funeral will be held 11:45 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, from the Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck, to St. Hedwig Church, 32 Golden Hill St., Naugatuck, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery, Seymour. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
