Bud was born August 4, 1914 in Elwell the son of John M. and Gertrude "Vay" (Hoaglin) Apple. He spent a few years in Grand Rapids, Lansing and in Detroit he worked as a Roll Machine Operator for an Automotive Parts Company. On January 30, 1937 he married Jean Muriel Bair in Detroit and later that year purchased a farm with his twin brother Cloyce. Together he and Cloyce took turns operating the farm and working for the automotive industry. Bud also worked for his brothers at Apple Trucking, construction road in the area. Bud was an active member of the East Superior Christian Church and served as a past Deacon. He was also a lifemember of the Alma Elks Lodge #1400.
Bud is survived by his wife of 76 years, Jean of Alma, a son Keith (Betty) Apple of Alma, a foster son, Jesse Mannausau of Alma, two grandchildren, Kandi (Mark) Rockafellow of St. Louis, Brian Apple of Nappanee, IN, three great-grandchildren, Dylan and Marshal Rockafellow and Sarah Hochstetler and a great-great grandson, Edward, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Janice Jean Apple, three brothers, Cloyce, Arthur and Dewey Apple and four sisters, Mabel Edmundson, Ethel Mannausau, Mildred Edmundson and Genevieve Harget.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 1 pm at Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Amstutz and Pastor Wayne Shidler officiating. Interment will follow in Pritchard Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11 am until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to East Superior Christian Church or Heartland Hospice.
