Harry Alvin Ross, 4, of Harrison Township

Harry Alvin Ross, 4, died Friday afternoon, May 6, 1921, of injuries received in a single motor vehicle accident in Brackenridge. Born November 11, 1916, he was the son of Harry A. and Ella L. (Carney) Ross, Natrona Heights (Harrison Twp., Allegheny Co.). In addition to his parents, he was survived by brothers Marlin E. and Kenneth Delroy Ross, and sisters Vera Mardelle and Audrey A. Ross; his paternal grandmother, Cecelia A. (Stakeley) Ross, of Brackenridge; paternal grandfather, A. E. Ross; and maternal grandmother, Lavina E. (Culp) Carney. His maternal grandfather, Robert B. Carney, preceded him in death. Burial was in Mount Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.

Fatal Accident On Brackenridge Hill Friday Afternoon

Harry Ross, Jr., of Harrison Township, died at 4:55 o'clock yesterday afternoon in the Allegheny Valley Hospital from injuries received an hour and a half earlier when a truck driven by his father overturned in Brackenridg Heights and curshed the child beneath.

Harry J.(A) Ross, the boy's father, was thrown clear of the truck and escaped serious injury. G. H. Maurhoff, agent for the Brackenridge-McKelvey Land Company, with offices about a square away, rushed to the scene with his car, and drove the father with his injured boy in his arms to the Allegheny Valley hospital in record time, but the injuries were too serious for physicians to be able to save him. His skull was seriously fractured and he died without regaining consciousness.

The accident happened at the corner of Fourth and Crescent streets, Brackenridge, between 3:15 and 3:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Mr. Ross was driving into town in a light truck, the only other occupant of which was the little boy. While coming down Crescent street hill the truck was running rapidly and between the rails of teh car track. When approaching the corner of Fourth street, the driver observed a truck of the Tarentum Lumber Co. approaching and made an attempt to turn out of the car tracks to secure better control, probably of his car.

The wheels clung to the car tracks throwing teh truck out of balance and when it strauck the soft ground in the recently graded Fourth street, it toppled over into Fourth street, near a deep embankment, but did not go over the edge. The truck was somewhat seriously damaged but can be repaired.

Mr. Ross, the father and driver, had been a well known auto mechanic, and is considered an expert driver. The conditions surrounding the accident are believed to have been largely responsible, although the truck (w)as coming down the hill at conserable speed.

Mr. Ross had just removed to a small garden place on the hill a short time ago.
