(Joseph) Please note: Ottilia Meyer was a sponsor for Mary Ottilia Kuhn (3) baptisim between 12 August and 31 December 1745. (GR, page 9; "Records", Volume 2, page 324). Odilia Eckerott may have also may have married into the Bawer/Baver/Bieber family, wife of John Baver but has yet to be proven at the moment. Update note: Conrad Bevertz was born about 1738 in Germany, the son of immigrand- John Beberts and his second wife Anna Ottilia. At the age of about 10 years, his father died and his mother married again Jacob Cronople/Grenable of Greenwhich Township, Berks Co., PA. (WK-book, page 521)

Submitter's note: She may have been the wife of John Kuhn (1) who died in 14 February 1751 Macungie Township, Berks County, PA. Further reseach is needed to determine this connection. (Joseph)

In old german script the "E" looks like "I" and may have been transcribed this way. Eckerodt rather than Ickerodt


Please note: it is undetermined where Odilia Eckerott is currently buried, or if she is even buried here. Her burial does not show up in any death records at Goshenhoppen Registers. It is not proven fact that she may have married into the Kuhn family. Hence the name "Ottilia Kuhn" below...a family name that ran in the Eckerott/Eckeroth/Ickerodt family.

"In July 1764, after the death of Father Schneider and before the arrival of Father Ritter, Father Farmer of Philadelphia performed a marriage at St. Paul's. The bride was Ottilia Kuhn, daughter of Henry Kuhn and the groom was Christian Ruffner. Both are described as being "of that vicinty, opposite the church." This would indicate that Ottilia Kuhn was living on the farm and that Ruffner might have been working as a hired hand, as his family lived beyond the Lehigh River in Northampton County. This also serves to locate the farm complex across the road from the church. The name of another worker on the farm is found in the death records of Father Ritter. In 1776 he notes the death of George Wenig "a poor laborer on my farm." All indication point to the fact that the church farm was an extensive operation, providing work not only for a farmer and his family, but also for a number of hired hands. Other farmers in later years were Simon Adam, Solomon Henrich, John Adam, and Bennett Melchior, the later holding the position at the time of the farm was sold in the nineteenth century. "An interesting story survives for the Eckroate ancestry. It seems there were three Eckroate brothers being pursued by Indians alone the river. (What river? perhaps the Ohio). Two of the brothers were caught and killed. The remaining brother escaped by hiding in the roots of a tree. It is from this surviving brother that the Eckroate lineage supposedly descended. The Eckroates that settled in Ohio were supposed to have come from Pennsylvania." (Ovid E Eckroate 9 March 1990.)
