Sarah was a daughter of Almon and Cassandra Noyes. Her first husband, Oscar J Moore, was a Corporal in Co. G, 6th Regiment of the Vermont Infantry, dying in service on 10 Jun 1862. Following her 28 Mar 1865 married to George H Atwood, Sarah's younger sister Phebe married George's brother Lorenzo H Atwood that December.
