Margaret Jean Frank Berrong

Margaret Jean Frank Berrong, 81, of Sweetwater, died Monday, July 27, 2009, at Athens Regional Medical Center.

She was a devoted wife and mother, and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Sweetwater, where she served as the secretary for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Myrble Harvey Frank; and one great-grandson, William David Sweitzer.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, King Berrong Jr. of Sweetwater; four sons and three daughters-in-law, David and Nina Tennyson Berrong of Lenoir City, Steve and Liz Atkins Berrong of Madisonville, and Rick and Peggy Trombley Berrong and Mickey Berrong, all of Sweetwater; one daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Kris Powers of Athens; two sisters, Gracie Curtis of Vonore, and Alice Calhoun of Jesup, Ga.; grandchildren, Dana Berrong Sweitzer, Nikki Berrong Swisher, Chris Berrong, Heather Berrong, Charlie Berrong, Cierra Moore, Chase Berrong, Josh Berrong, Adam Powers, Blake Powers, Corbin Powers and Dannah Powers; great-grandchildren, Clavdia Sweitzer, McKinna Westfield, Brayden Westfield, Dillon Moore, Millie Anne Swisher and Hunter Daffron; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Sweetwater. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Friday for the 11 a.m. graveside service in Sweetwater Memorial Park with the Rev. Phil Holmes officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to Gideons International.
