Emeline Moreland, daughter of Samuel Thornton and Nancy Elizabeth Moreland, was born in Barnes [sic], County, Ohio, May 5, 1858, and departed this life in Eversonville, Mo., Sept. 5, 1947, age 89 years and four months. She came with her parents to Missouri when a small child. She became a member of the Strawberry Methodist Church in early life.
She was united in marriage to Frank Harvey on June 24, 1879. He preceded her in death on February 20, 1922. To this union were born eight children, three having preceded her in death: Maude in 1903, Albert and Jesse in 1904, and a stepson, Ollie Harvey.
Those left to mourn her passing are Fon and Ben Harvey of Linneus, Elihu Harvey of Chillicothe, Mrs. Sarah Lane of Meadville, Elsie Harvey of the home; a stepson, Everett Harvey of Linneus; two sisters, 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Grandma Harvey, as she was familiarly known to all her numerous friends, was one of our good old pioneer neighbors who was always ready with a helping hand with service and words of encouragement. She was charitable to everyone who came to her door in need. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A good mother has reached her reward."
