C.C Linecum,who at the age of sixteen left home and became a trail driver.by the time he was twenty-one he had been up the trail at least five times. He rode the Chisohn Trail and on one occasion was on the drive taht carried ito Canada. He was taught to read and write by other drivers while on the trail. Later he was very influential in organization and construction of Thompsonville Baptist Church.

C. C. Lincecum, Old Resident of County, Passes

Another of the old residents of the county has been called to his final reward, C. C. Lincecum, for forty-four years a citizen of Gonzales county, passed away Tuesday evening, Sep. 7, at 5:30 p.m. at the Holmes Hospital from an illness of typhoid fever.
He was 67 years, 8 months and 3 days of age.
Surviving him are his wife, four sons, C. B. Lincecum, Brownwood; V. G. Lincecum, Beaumont; and W. M. Lincecum of this city; and three daughters, Mrs. Dan Handley, of Childress; Mrs. J. C. Taylor and Miss Maud Lincecum of this city besides a brother, Joe Lincecum of Orange, and a sister, Mrs. Josephine Encil, of Houston.
Mr. Lincecum was born January 4, 1859, in Orange County. After coming to Southwest Texas he first lived in Fayett county, moving from there to Gonzales county and settling at Thompsonville, where he lived for four years. The family of late have been living in this city.
Mr. Lincecum was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was also one of the old trail drivers of the county. He was warmly esteemed by all who knew him.
The funeral will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 o'clock, the procession leaving the undertaking parlors of Robertson & Seydler at 9 a.m. and moving to Thompsonville, his old home, where services will be held at 10:30 o'clock with burial in the Thompsonville cemetery. Rev. A. H. Is bell, pastor of the Baptist church at Waelder, Will conduct the services and the Waelder Masonic Lodge, of which Mr. Lincecum was a member, will have charge of the burial ceremony.
Many friends will tender the bereaved family warm sympathy in their hour of sorrow.
