Grandson of Burrell (Burwell) Smith from North Carolina and Susan Henderson from Tennessee.
About 1893, Frank married Eliza McKeehan daughter of Benjamin "Big Ben" McKeehan and Mary Wells.
His father John Wesley Davis was the son of Moses Davis and Elizabeth Purvine, from Claiborne County, Tennessee. The family moved to Illinois after 1840, and it is believed John Wesley was born in Illinois about 1843. Moses died soon after the move and Elizabeth moved back to Tennessee with all their children and lived for a while with Harmon and Elizabeth (Derryberry) Davis, Moses parents. After Moses parents died, Elizabeth moved to Kentucky with her daughter, Christine. Other siblings of John Wesley Davis were Isaac, William, and possibly Mary Frances. Still looking for proof for Mary Frances that married Green Berry Smith and lived in Claiborne County, Tennessee. Several members of the family moved to Garrard County, Kentucky. It is not known where Moses Davis, father of John Wesley, died, or where he is buried. Many of the older Davis and Purvine families moved to Oregon in the late 1840's, and so it is possible Moses was on one of these wagon trains.
