Leslie Self Dalton reported that Mabel's daughter Shirley found her dead in the bathroom.
Her obituary reported: "Mabel Pearl Baxter, 82, a resident of French Lick died Tuesday evening at her home. Death was believed to have resulted from a heart attack. She was born June 13, 1893, in Orange County, the daughter of Robert and Rebecca Marlette Seybold. She married Volney Baxter and he died November 1944. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Shirley Sanders of French Lick, and Mrs. Helen Smirlis of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; a half brother Mr. Winston Seybold of French Lick, a half sister Mrs. Marguerite Ragans of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Friday at the Brosmer Drabing Funeral Home in French Lick, with Rev. Lloyd Hustler officiating. Burial will be in Ames Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home anytime."
