She was the paternal grandchild of Dr. James Thomas Leach & Elizabeth Willis Sanders; and gr-grandchild of John Thomas Leach & Susanna Parham, all of Johnston County. She was the maternal grandchild of David H. & Sarah Holland, wealthy farmers in Johnston County.
Floy's father had first married Lenora Jane McCullers in 1859 and by her had 2 daughters. When Lenora died in 1863, he married Floy's mother in about 1868.
Floy never married and became a high school teacher. It is known she resided for a time in Cary, NC, which is where she may have taught.
Floy James Leach died in 1957 at age 76. She is buried near her parents in the Leach Family Cemetery.
