Bradford Reporter, Towanda, Pennsylvania - Thursday, May 30, 1872

In Warren, May 9, 1872, Wm. Arnold, in the 80th year of his age. The subject of this brief sketch was born in Providence, R. I., Aug. 6, 1892. His father with his family moved to Warren, Bradford Co., in 1800, then an unbroken wilderness, some fifteen miles from any settlement. Consequently he had to endure from boyhood all the hardships incident to the settlement of a new country. The 12th of September he married Deborah Pendleton, by whom he had 12 children, 8 of whom survived him. In 1841 he married Hannah Wooster for his second wife, who bore 3 children, 2 still living. Possessed of a strong constitution and the most untiring energy, he did as much as any man in clearing the forests and otherwise improving the township in which he died. By profession a Methodist, but somewhat Calvinistic in his views of Divine Providence, he maintained a strong faith in the stoning merits of the Redeemer till his last moment.
