Mrs. George Ballantine
East Calais, December 27 - The death of Mrs. George Balantine of East Calais occurred at the Barre City hospital Monday morning following an illness of several months.

Dora B. (Haskell) Balentine was born in Calais March 30, 1872, the daughter of John and Kate A. (Slayton) Haskell. With the exception of one year, her birthplace has been her home for her entire life. She received her education in the school at East Calais and in Hardwick Academy. She was engaged as a teacher for several years in Calais and nearby towns.

Her marriage to George Balantine of Calais, who survives, took place in North Montpelier October 8, 1895. To this union were born 2 children, Gladys (Mrs. Leon Hopkins), who passed away 6 years ago, and Ralph G., who lives at home. There are also 5 grandchildren. Besides these, she leaves 2 nephews and 3 nieces in Barre.

Ms. Balentine was a retiring disposition, devoting her life to her family. She tenderly cared for her mother, who was an invalid for many years. Since the death of her daughter, she has interested herself particularly in her grandchildren.

The funeral services will be held at the church in East Calais Wednesday at 1 o'clock. Dr. Arthur W. Hewitt will officiate. Burial will be in the East Calais Cemetery.
