UPDATE Dec 27, 2019: Her EXACT DEATH DATE IS UNKNOWN because a matching death certificate or obituary cannot be found and a previous possible d.c. turned out to not be a match for her. She is reported as a survivor in her son Benjamin's June 1936 newspaper obituary, but cannot be located in any further documents or the 1940 census.

EXACT LOCATION OF HER BURIAL IS QUESTIONABLE to this author due to the presence of a gravestone located at the Union Hill Cemetery immediately next to her parents Isham & Doratha Tanner. It is a homemade concrete slab with crudely scratched letters and no dates given.

Inscription:
1st line: ELIZABE
2nd line: TH (likely name "Elizabeth" continued)
3rd line: LAYTON

Bessie Elton (Layton Genealogist and author of "John Layton Family," 1972) reported Elizabeth's birth & death as "(1856-1940)" and she along with Jesse are buried in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. A physical site survey in the summer of 2000 did not reveal a gravestone however, there were several adjacent unmarked or empty spaces next to Jesse's gravestone.

Elizabeth's 1900 Fed census gave her birth date as Mar 1855.

Daughter of Isham J Tanner (1819/GA– 1911/GA) and Doretha Barwick (1834/GA – 1911/GA).

Wife of Jesse Green Layton (1851/GA-1924/GA), married 8 Jan 1873 in Washington Co., Georgia.

Children: Minnie Lee (1875/GA-1942/GA), Jesse Morgan (1876/GA-___), William Rassie (1878/GA-1952/MI), Clara A (1880/GA-1945/GA), M. Ella(1882/GA-1918/GA), Benjamin Thomas (1885/GA-1936/GA), Mattie Pearl (1890/GA-1952/NC), Georgia Edna (1892/GA-1923/GA), Willie W (1894/GA-1986/FL) Zora (1896/GA-1987/GA)
