Rita E. Agnew SO. YARMOUTH Rita E. (McNamara) Agnew of S. Yarmouth, formerly of Randolph, MA, passed away at the age of 83 on July 29th, 2009 after a long illness. Beloved wife of 58 years to Edwin J. Agnew Jr. Rita was born on December 28, 1925 and raised in Hyde Park, MA. She married love Edwin Agnew in 1951. Rita began her career at MIT during World War II. She worked for many years at Dymo in Randolph, and later in medical billing for the visiting nurses in Quincy. Rita moved to Cape Cod after her retirement in 1989. An avid golfer, Rita was a member of the Lady Niners golf league. She enjoyed volunteering at the South Yarmouth Library and was a member of the Catholic Daughters Association at Our Lady of the Cape in Brewster, where she served as treasurer. She is survived by her five children: Mary P. Freitas and her husband Stephen of Kingston; Barbara A. Moore of Milton; Michael J. and his wife Karen of Kingston; John E. of Weymouth; and Jeanne M. Murphy of Braintree. Loving grandmother of Michael Freitas and his wife Melissa; Daniel Freitas; Jennifer, Patrick, Andrew, Christopher, and Julia Moore; Tyler, Ryan, and Brandon Agnew; and Matthew and Brendan Murphy. Predeceased by her brothers Robert V. and Richard McNamara, she is also survived by E. Marie Jennings of Falmouth, and her loving sister-in-law Florence McNamara of Walpole. A funeral will be held on Monday, August 3rd at 10:30 a.m. from the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave; South Yarmouth followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Pius X Church, Station Ave, So. Yarmouth at 11:30. Burial following at 2 p.m. in Milton Cemetery, Milton, MA.
