Stanley Airington, 84, of Norman passed away February 28, 2008, at his home in Norman. He was born January 30, 1924, in Alex. Stanley attended school and graduated from Alex. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He worked in the oilfield and later drove a truck. He had lived in Norman since 1965. He worked for the University of Oklahoma for 11 years retiring in 1989. He was a tuckpointer with brick masons. Stanley and Delora Brooks were married July 19, 1946, in Montege, Texas. He was a member of the #1799 Moose Lodge and Brick Layers Union.


Stanley was preceded in death by a son, Sammy Charles Airington; two brothers, J.D. and Vernie Airington; and a sister, Addie Arteberry.


Survivors include his wife of the home; a son and daughter-inlaw, Everett and Margie Airington of Norman; a daughter, Ada Airington of Desert Hot Springs, California; three grandchildren, Steve Airington, Brenda Powell and Trish Sheets; five greatgrandchildren, Ryan Barnes, Britney Powell, Brianna Powell, Marin Sheets and Lochan Sheets; a sister, Lucille Pursley of Chickasha; sister-in-law, Hazel Airington of El Reno; and many nieces and nephews.
