~~ My maternal great grand Uncle ~~
Robert Doughty is my great grandma Laura's brother. I know he and his wife lived in Illinois, as his parents did. The parents, and their sons and their wives all later moved to Nebraska in 1890 to homestead. They all lived there the rest of their lives.
They had a boy who died young and a daughter Fern Roberta Doughty.
Only my great grandma, Laura, stayed behind in Illinois. She was married already when the family moved, and she remained here in Illinois until her death. It must have been hard to be so far away from her parents and her brothers, and their families.
I know the Nebraska branch of the family came back to Illinois for visits, because we have family photos of them and newspaper articles confirm that.
