MRS. PLEASANT ANN BURTON OF GREENTOP DIES

Was 81 Years Old; Funeral Services Thursday Afternoon

Mrs. Pleasant Ann Burton, 81, of Greentop, died at 7:23 this morning in a Kirksville hospital.
Funeral services will be held at the Ft. Madison church Thursday afternoon, at 2:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. J. T. Quigley, pastor of the Methodist church, LaPlata. Interment will be in the Ft. Madison cemetery.
Mrs. Burton was the daughter of James and Magaret Goddard Crow, and was born in Adair county, near Sublette, on April 4, 1874. She was married to James Madison Burton on Feb. 18, 1981 [sic -should be 1881], in Adair county, and to this marriage four children were born.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Elva Kelsey, Rudd Iowa, and Mrs. R. A. (Ruby) Clark, Memphis; two sons, Dee Burton, Greentop, and Carl Burton, of the home in Greentop; five granddaughters, one grandson and six great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Burton was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on Oct. 17, 1944; two brothers and five sisters.
She had lived her entire life in the Ft. Madison and Sperry community, until moving to Greentop in 1945.
Mrs. Burton was a member of the Christian church.
The body will be at the Dee Riley Funeral Home until the funeral hour.
Bearers will be Pete Waddill, Audrey Conner, Harold Kelsey, Travis Waddill, Leo Holland and Leland Buckallew.
