Arthur Ahlquist, 71, Town of Emmet, died at a Madison hospital at 2:30 a.m. Sunday after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Lohr Funeral Home at Marathon and at 2 p.m. in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church at Marathon. The Rev. G. O. Krause will officiate. The body will be at the funeral home at 7 o'clock this evening. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Ahlquist was born on March 19, 1891, in Mosinee, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Ahlquist. He married Laurena Ahrens at Marathon on June 6, 1922. He was a member of the Alois Dreikosen Post 469, American Legion, Marathon, a World War I veteran. He served on the Ludington School Board in the Town of Emmet for many years. Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Raymond, Maple Valley, Wash., - Reuben, Marathon, and Elroy, at home; a brother, Louis, Marathon; two sisters, Mrs. Louis Ahrens, Town of Mosinee, and Mrs. Louisa Braunel, Town of Marathon, and a grandchild.
