The funeral of Mannie B. Abbott, 83, who died Wednesday, is to be held at 2 pm today, Friday Aug. 21, at the Union Star Medodist church, conducted by the Rev. Deloss Hinshaw, and burial will be in the Union Star cemetery. The body is at the Clark Funeral home here.
Mr. Abbott was born near Union Star, July 31, 1887, the son of William F. and Alice Bivens Abbott. He was reared in his native community, and on Dec. 24, 1913, married Wava Eunice Wells, who survives.
They were the parents of three children, 1st Lt. Edgar R. Abbott of the US Air Corps, who met death June 17, 1944, in the Normandy invasion of WWII; and Glenn Abbott of King City and Mrs. Doris Gay of St. Jospeh,who survive.
Surviving also are his widow, Mrs. Wava Abbott; two granddaughters, Mrs. Wendell Wells and Mrs. Gary Taylor, and five great grandchildren; also by two brothers, Fred Abbott of Union Star and Lee Abbott of Hamilton, MO.; and two sisters, Mrs. Rosie Carter of Kingston, MO., and Mrs. Viola Martin of Burlington Junction, MO., and many nieces and nephews.
