Esther was the daughter of Jacob Kendig and Catherine Neff. She married John Harman about 1789 Lancaster, Pa. Their children were John, Daniel, Samuel, Elizabeth, Hester, Anna Maria, Benjamin K. I do not know if Esther remarried.

April 18 1836 on motion of R Frazor Esquire the Court appoints John Mathiot Esq. a commissioner to take testimony on the part of the plaintiff in this case.

In persuance of the above appointment personally came
Before me, the commissioner above named, George Hambright
Aged fifty eight years, who being duly affirmed accord=
Ing to law doth depose and say ----following---I have
Known the parties in the above case for thirty years. The
Said John Harman left tha habitation of the said Esther
Harman his wife, which was then in Lampeter Township
Lancaster County about nine years since, and I think
More, and has not since returned to live with his said wife,
And that such deserti0on and abse4nce was willful and malicious
As he the defendant believes ad without a reasonable cause
To the best of his knowledge and belief ---That he has since
Seen the said John Harman in Philadelphia, who told
Him, when speaking of leaving his said wife, that he knew
He had done wrong but it couldn't be helped now,
And that many a man has done wrong before

Say – I have known the parties in this case for twelve
Years. John Harmon deserted and left his wife Esther

cause that I know of – he has not since returned –
he lived at the time of deserting his wife in Lampeter Township Lancaster County – and his said desertion and absence from the habitation of his said wife was willful and malicious and without a reasonable cause to the Best of his knowledge and belief. Signed: Christian St Loise,

In the name of God Amen I Esther Harman of the city of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania being of advanced in years and Considering the uncertainty of sound mind memory and understanding, and considering the transitory life do make and publishing this my last will and testament in the manner and form.
First it is my will and I do order that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid and satgisfied as soon as convieniently can be after my death.
2nd Item Ia give and bequeath my son Benjamin has man the following articles and things to wit: One bed the best in the house, two pair of sheets, two pair pillow cases and one pair of blankets, one coverlet, one quilt, one stove and pipe his choice one change cupboard, one bureau his choice, one table his choice, one looking glass his choice, the carpet in the front room, a half dozen chairs, one tea cosre and one doz knives and forks. to hold the same to my son Benjamin and his heirs forever.
3rd Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Maria intermarried with John Weidler one good bed as such the appraised value or price shall be part upon or by my Executor Herein named.
4th I give unto my daughter Maria, son Benjamin, th daughter of my deceased daughter Hetty who was intermarried to Joel W Lightner, all my linens to be equally divided between them. That is to say my said daughter Maria to have one equal third part or share thereof, and the daughter of my deceased daughter Hetty to haveone equal third. to have of my estate, to have and hold the same as aforesaid to have and assign forever.
Andas touching all the rest surviving and remainder of my estate real, personal or Mixed of what kind or nature whatsoever, the same may be found. Not herein before specifically bequeathed I do order and direct my executor to convert into money. by public or privat sale or otherwise to the best advantage and the next proceeds thereof including the appraised value or price of the bed herein bequeathed to daughter Maria, and the advancements, claims or debts made by my son John. Ido give divise and bequeath the same following to wit. One equal fifth part or share thereof unto my son Daniel Harman, one equel fifth shar or part unto my daughter Maria. one fifth share unto my daughter of my deceased daughter Hetty, one equal fifth or part unto my grandson Benjamin Harman,The son of my son John Harman, first deducting such advancements which I have made to my son John and from the share given and bequeathed as aforesaid. Should my grandson Benjamin be dead at the time of my death, then it is my will and I do order and direct Interest of the balance of the part and share be paid unto my son John Semi Annually during his life and at his death the balance to be equally divided among my Children and the representatives of such as shall then be dead. That is share thereof unto my said son Benjamin to have and hold the said parts and there as herein before given and bequeathed to them their heirs and assigns forever.
And lastly nominate , constitute Appoint my Said son Daniel my whole and sole executor of this my last will, hereby revoking all other wills legacied and bequested by me hereonto made and declaring this and
no other to be my last will and tesament.
Also constitute and appoint my said son Daniel the trustee and guardian of my son John. Should the same become necesary; and also do contitute and appoint my said son Daniel to be the guardian of the children of my deceased daughter Hetty that have not become of age of twenty One
years during their majority
I witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 13 April 1847.
