Edgar C. STANTON, 88, Athens, died at 8 a.m. Sunday at Canterbury Manor nursing home.
He was born Feb. 13, 1891 in Fulton county and had lived in Athens since 1931, moving from the Denver-Roann area. He was married to Fannie BERGER May 12, 1914 in Mexico; she preceded in death. Mr. Stanton served as postmaster for the Athens area from 1931 until his retirement in 1965.
Surviving are two sons, Edward [STANTON], Athens, and Charles [STANTON], Bradenton, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs. Don (Ellen) RHODES, Gas City; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A brother and two sisters prceded in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Sheetz funeral home, Akron, with the Rev. Wayne JOHNSON officiating. Burial will be in the Athens cemetery. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today.
