Interment Is Made In Jewish Cemetery This Afternoon.
The funeral of Sam W. Schuster, 74, of 911 Jackson Street, who died early Sunday at a local sanitarium, was held this afternoon at 3 o'clock at the residence with Rabbi F. K. Hirsch, of Temple B'Nai Israel, in charge. Interment was made in the Jewish Cemetery.
Mr. Schuster's death was the result of the bite of a spider on the hand which caused infection and other complications. He was born in Galena, Ill., on February 23, 1857, but had lived in Louisiana most of his life, his father having been for years engaged in the mercantile business at Farmerville, where he also was postmaster.
Mr. Schuster's mother, now at advanced age, is still living, making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Hugh Bracey in this city. In addition to his mother, Mr. Schuster is survived by one brother, Joe Schuster, of St. Louis and by the following sisters: Mrs. Hugh Bracey and Mrs. Tom Atkinson, of Monroe; Mrs. Gilbert Rose of Asheville, N. C.; Mrs. Eugene Stern of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. Nettie Wise of Chicago, Ill.
Active pallbearers for the funeral this afternoon were: William Boxley, R. D. Swayze, Abe Arent, Sam L. Caspari, Warren Garrett and Noah Odom.
Honorary pallbearers were: Dr. George Snellings, Dr. J. Q. Graves, Dr. John Snelling, Dr. B. M. McKoin, Dr. I. J. Wolff, Dr. Cummins and R. E. Tucker.
