Her father was in Armaugh, Ireland and her mother was born in the vicinity of Coal Creek. Of a family of eight children, three brothers and one sister survive, Emmett and James of Denver, CO, Frank of Monterey, CA and Sister Senorina, OSB of Atchison.
On June 30 1903, she was united in marriage with Edward J. Haug at St. Mary's Church in St. Benedict by Rev. Anthony Bour, OSB and the young couple established their home on a farm on Turkey Creek. To this union eight children were born: Omar, Emmett and Gerald of Seneca, Lillis of Daytona Beach, Florida, Edwin of Wichita, Wilfred of Saudi Arabia. One daughter, Mary Grace of Topeka. One daughter died in infancy. There are 23 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Mrs Haug was a member of St. Ann's Altar Society of Sts. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 10:00, Father Edward celebrating the Solemn High Mass. Burial services were held at the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased: Vernice, Clarence, Donald, Peter, Ernest Haug and Vernice McCaffery. Honorary pallbearers were:L Lou Honeyman, Joe Strathman, Henry Marqueling, Frank Haefele, Ed Draney and Tom Sullivan.
Among those who attended the services from a distance were Rev. Anthony Gruesser of Steinauer, NB, Mrs August B. Haug of St. Mary's, KS, Mrs. Joe Grothjan of Salina, a brother Emmett Dignan of Denver, CO, Sister May Omer OP and Sister Mary Dominic OP of Great Bend, KS and Mr. and Mrs. George Haug of Kansas City, MO.
