Alex, of Chamita, passed away in Albuquerque. He was survived by his mother Donelia Maestas of Española, sons Randy A. Maestas of Española and Lenny Maestas of Albuquerque; daughter Brenda Ortega of Albuquerque; 3 grandchildren; brothers: Reggie Maestas of Española, Eloy Maestas of Sombrillo, Fidel Maestas of El Llano, Floyd Maestas of El Llano, and Pablo Maestas of Augusta, Georgia; sister Mabel Ivey of Norfolk, Virginia; and many other nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Alex worked for Safeway as a meat manager and also had his own meat cutting business in Chamita.
Funeral Mass was on May 11th at Holy Cross Church in Santa Cruz. Burial followed in Holy Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers: Pete Martinez, Ruben Salazar, Felix Romero, Ted Archuleta, Vences Garcia, and Octavio Romero.
