Russell Ray Rowe died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St Francis Campus in Wichita. He was 87.

Mr. Rowe was a computer repair and maintenance specialist for the IBM computer company and also an instructor with IBM. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

The son of Charles Henry and Flossie Keech Rowe, he was born June 23, 1920, in Willard.

Mr. Rowe was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by three brothers, Ronald Duane Rowe of Strong City, Kenneth Roger Rowe of Salina and Lawrence "Larry" Carl Rowe of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two sisters, Virginia Lou Reed of Palm Springs, Calif., and Delores Ann Mcnamara of Reading, Calif.

Five brothers, Forrest James Rowe, Charles Virgil Rowe, Richard Arlen Rowe, Vernon Everett Rowe and John Dale Rowe; and a sister, Velma Lorraine Hassenbank, died earlier.

Mr. Rowe was cremated. Burial, with military services conducted by a Fort Riley Honor Guard, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Valley View Memorial Gardens, east of Manhattan. Susan Alexander will conduct the service.
