Edna was the third child of Daniel Durkee and Anna Katrina Downs. She married Henry Liberty Hamilton about 1919 and they moved to Houston, TX in 1920 where he was a consulting geologist for an oil company. After his death she moved back to Los Angeles County and spent her time travelling, including a trip by ocean liner to Hawaii.

She is buried next to her parents and her sister Winona Laura Durkee Ashe-Everest.
