Marquerite Gocken, 87

Marguerite Gocken, a resident of Royalton, died Sept. 6, 2004, at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls. Funeral services were held Sept. 10 at the First Baptist Church in Little Falls with Rev. Steven Priola officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Royalton.
Marguerite was born May 17, 1917, near Alexandria, S.D. to the late Charles and Isadore ( Hazen) Letcher. She grew up near Alexandria. She was united in marriage to Clarence E. Gocken on Aug. 28, 1940, in Virgil, S.D. The couple farmed near Alexandria, S.D. and then near Wakonda, S.D. until purchasing a farm northeast of Royalton in Dec. 1956. They farmed in Royalton until moving to Little Falls in 1977. The couple spent the summers in Little Falls and winters in Phoenix, AZ until 1987, when they moved to Phoenix. They returned to Royalton in 1998 and have resided there since. Marguerite enjoyed sewing, crocheting, craft painting and flower and vegetable gardening. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Little Falls.
Survivors include sons Ronald Gocken and wife Marcella of Keats, KS, Gerald Gocken and wife Jane of Cascade, ID, Richard Gocken and wife, Lynette of Brainerd, Charlie Gocken and wife, Kathy of Royalton; daughters Loretta Jensen and husband, Rev. Richard of Oakdale, Margie Majaski and husband, Keith of Royalton; sister Beverly Brady of Wakonda, SD; 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband Clarence E. Gocken; parents Charles V. Letcher and Isadore L. (Hazen) Gocken; brother Justin Letcher; infant granddaughter Jennifer Majaski; and infant great granddaughter.
