Funeral services for Mrs. J. N. (Nell F.) Carnes were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Grace Episcopal church, Royalton, with the Rev. Thomas Steensland officiating. Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery. Mrs. J.N. Carnes, 93, died Sunday. Her husband, J.N. Carnes, age 91, died Oct. 19, 1959, just a week after they had celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary and Ed Williams, age 92, who had made his home with the Carnes family for over 50 years, died at Christmas. A resident of Royalton for 70 years, Mrs. Carnes was born Aug. 13, 1866 in Osseo, where she attended grade and high school, later studying at St. Cloud College. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, of Grace Episcopal Church and its guild, and a charter member of the Royalton Study Club. Surviving her are a son, Norris K. Carnes, St. Paul, and four daughters: Mrs. E H. McGonagle (Edleen), Royalton; Mrs. J.R. Lambert (Emily), San Jose, Calif.; Mrs. W. Tillotson (Helen) Belgrade, and Mrs. Herbert Peteson [sic] (Jean), Grey Eagle. There are two brothers, B[ert] T[homas] Wakefield, Del Paso Heights, Calif. and Harold Wakefield, Sacramento, Calif. and 12 grandchildren.
