Mazzy was the light of my life. She was a dog we adopted from Greater Ohio Boxer Rescue in December of 2001.

She was taken from her previous owner because they were starving and neglecting her. She was skin and bones and pregnant when she was finally taken to the Humane Society.

I could never understand how someone could abuse such a wonderful dog. All she wanted to do was love you. She also knew lots of tricks, so whoever had her before us at least cared enough to teach her those things....they just didn't feed her. Doesn't make sense.

Mazzy graced us with almost 8 wonderful years. She had the most endearing traits, but hands down, the most enchanting was her "woo woo". She would grab a toy as soon as you came in the house and would dance around with it because she was so excited to see you.

She loved to cuddle with you on the couch and was the most well behaved dog ever.

Mazzy developed degenerative arthritis in her spine and slowly began to lose control of her hindquarters. Eventually she stopped eating and it was evident that she had given up.

Soon she looked like the sack of bones she was when we adopted her from rescue 8 years earlier. She no longer had the ability to run madly through the park, and that's all she ever wanted to do. I often thought she'd be a great agility dog because she could turn on a dime and was so quick.

She was relegated to staring out the window and dreaming of better days, her body no longer able to keep up with her spirit.

The 8 years we had with her just weren't enough. I miss her terribly and cry for her everyday. I know it will get easier...but right now I just want to hold her again and tell her how much I love her and miss her.

She's left a big gaping hole in our hearts that will never be able to be filled.

Godspeed Mazzy Girl....run free at the bridge where you are whole and able again....
