Leven B. Murphy, 84, of 328 North Fisher Street, a retired barber, died at 12:25 p.m. Thursday in the Wabash County Hospital. He had been in failing health for the last year.
Born Oct. 25, 1873 in Wabash, he was the son of George V. and Susan (Pearson) Murphy. His marriage in Wabash, Sept. 17, 1903, was to Fern Frame, who survives.
The decedent was a lifetime resident of this city and had barbered for 56 years. He was a player on the first football team that was formed here in 1898 and also played on the WAA team of which he was a charter member. Mr. Murphy was a member of the First Methodist Church and Local 474 Barber's Union, Peru.
Surviving are the wife and one son, George L. Murphy, White Plains, N.Y. One brother and three sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of the Eddingfield Mortuary with the Rev. W.W. Deyo officiating. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Falls Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
