Joseph H. Alexander was born at Lexington, Ohio, August 18, 1845, and departed this earthly life at his home in Plymouth, November 22, 1915, in the 71st. year of his age.
Mr. Alexander, with his wife, came to Plymouth in 1891, and has lived here ever since. During this time he held the office of street commissioner for seven successive years, but the later years of his labors were spent in the employ of the J.D. Fate Company. He was of a quiet, unobtrusive nature, kind of heart and had a warm love of home and was a great lover of flowers, among which he spent many happy hours, and of which he had a large variety. His virtues were best known by neighbors and those within the family circle.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Alice Flinchbaugh of Columbus, and two sons, Chas. G. of Ashland, and William of Newark.
Mr. Alexander was a veteran of the Civil War, being a member of Co. G., 142nd. Ohio Regt.
Funeral services were held from the Lutheran Church Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. G.C. Smith, of the Lutheran Church, and was largely attended by friends and neighbors. Interment was made in Greenlawn Cemetery.
