Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Nelson-House Funeral Home, with Pastor John Walworth officiating. Burial will follow at Middlebury Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Daniel was born Oct. 10, 1971, in Lansing, the son of Martin and Donna Jean (Parish) Steinke. He attended Owosso schools. He enlisted the United States Army in 1989 and served several tours of duty in Iraq and Korea during Desert Storm.
He grew up in Salem Lutheran Church and School. He was an avid NASCAR fan and his favorite driver was #88, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Another one of his favorite pastimes was watching wrestling on television with his dad and his friends.
Survivors include his father, Martin (Pamela) Steinke; sisters Buffy Soper (Ted Hornus) and Erica (Michael) Stein; grandmother Ida Mae Parish; nephews Nathan and Gavin Stein; and several loving aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
He was predeceased by his mother, Donna Jean; infant sister Lisa Marie; grandfather Frank Parish; and grandparents Florence and Gustave Steinke.
